Enhancing the Curriculum
There are a wide range of activities that support the music curriculum: instrumental lessons in Brass, Keyboard and guitar occur on a weekly basis, with opportunities to perform at venues throughout the year.
Pupils are able to take instruments home to practise, returning the following week at the relevant time for the follow up lesson.
While brass and keyboard lessons are provided by staff within the department, guitar tuition is provided by the local Music Hub (Knowsley) on a weekly basis. There is no charge to pupils for this service.
Altbridge School Choir rehearses weekly on Thursdays during the last lesson of the day and is open to all pupils who show an interest in music and are willing to commit to the rehearsal and concert schedule throughout the year. The choir perform at venues across Knowsley at Christmas and during the summer term.
The Voice of Altbridge is an annual production that occurs just before the summer half term break and involves pupils and staff performing songs of their own choice, and being judged by a specially chosen panel of staff. There are knock-out rounds, eventually culminating in a grand finale.
