POST 16 PROVISION
Alt Bridge Secondary Support Centre established this provision in September 2012. This further education provision is aimed at young people between the ages of 16-19 and provides a transition between college based further education, the world of work, supported living, independent living and work.
The Post 16 Partnership provides education based training including
* functional skills
* maths for everyday living
*reading, writing, speaking and listening
* personal and social development
* everyday living skills
* employability skills
* working in the hospitality industry
* work placement/work experience/volunteering
The Personal and Social Skills program is based around the OCR Life and Living Skills qualification and the Functional Skills program is accredited by AQA and City & Guilds
The functional skills are in English, maths and ICT. All students work towards functional skills qualifications. These qualifications are available at Entry Levels 1-3 and levels 1 and 2.
The aim is to develop everyday skills in these areas. There are many opportunities across the courses to practice these skills in real life situations both in the centre and during the many off site activities.
Over the two years in Post 16 you will work towards Functional Skills qualifications at Entry Levels 1-3 or level 1-2.
The course is designed to develop your literacy skills and help you respond to a range of texts. It aims to build on your Entry Level /GCSE accreditation and skills you gained in KS4.
Functional skills are accessible qualifications that allow you to develop the key literacy skills that you need in real life. It is recognised by providers of further education, employers and providers of apprenticeships.
Students will progress from their awards already achieved in year 11 onto individual awards from Entry Level 1-3 and Level 1 and 2 awards.
This course is designed to develop your numeracy skills and help you respond to a range of real life situations requiring skills in mathematics. It aims to improve your Functional Skills and/or GCSE accreditation.

The Post16 Partnership is housed on the upper floor of the main school building. It has a distinctly NOT school feel about it. We have teaching rooms for English, Maths and ICT and a large Dining kitchen in which important life skills are developed.
The students have their own common room for use before and after college as well as during lunchtime and breaks.
Alt Bridge Post 16 Partnership is ideally located in the centre of the Borough and is in familiar surroundings for many of our students
